Grand Tetons- Colter Bay- Labor Day Weekend 2014

While packing for our trip H found Randy's hat. He wore it all day. He was a good helper.  This year we didn't want to take the kids out of school for too long. We left Friday after they were out.

We made it Friday night and got the kids tucked into their beds. The kids love to sleep in the trailer. Steven and Kari were still on their way so I stayed up with Tim and Kamie to wait for them to get there.

Saturday morning we drove into Jackson Hole. H drew this picture on the way. It cracked me up.

I am always floored by how beautiful the Grand Tetons are.

We played around at town square for a while. They had a farmers market with a bunch of kids games.

After that we headed to the candy store in honor of Matt who couldn't be with us this year. It just wouldn't be Jackson without the candy store.

Steven bought cheddar flavored mill worms.

They said they tasted like dirt. Yuck. I am glad I didn't try one.

After a bit of shopping we stopped at The Bunnery  for some yummy traditional pastries.

The arch. H just wanted to touch it over and over again. This year we didn't stay in Jackson all day. We decided not to do Bar J this year.

Once we got home we walked down to Jackson Lake. This is the best shore for throwing rocks. We had an endless supply.

These two worked very hard to get this log into the water.

Silly Steven

While we were down there we found frogs.

We caught about ten of them.

Reagan just wanted to look at them. She didn't want to hold them.

They were so cute and fun.

Sunday morning it poured!!! We were stuck in our trailers all morning. We did play some games but I always hate to be stuck inside while we are camping.

Once the sun came out. We went to the General Store for some yummy ice cream.

Then we went down to the lake again. It was COLD! But, the kids insisted on swimming.

H was the only one who didn't want to get in the water.

I can't believe how long they lasted.

Brad was purple and blue by the time he got out of the water.

Not quite sunny sandy beach but very beautiful and grand.

After dinner Claire, Steven, Kari and I walked down to the lake to fish and watch the sunset.  The boys went to watch a football game down at the marina.

Earlier that day Steven and the kids made a beach man. So artsy!!

Steven letting Claire cast a few times.

The sunset was incredible.

Monday we headed up to Yellowstone for the day. Our first stop was fishing bridge for some ice-cream.

Then we drove up to Mammoth.

We haven't been that far North for years.

We packed a lunch and  watched a bull elk herd a big group of cow elk. It was kidnda freaky since the elk was pretty excited. There were times we got nervous and put the kids inside the trucks.

This elk was bugling and running around chasing off other bulls.

Randy got out his phone and made elk challenge noises. I was furious. It scared me to death when the elk would get excited.

On the way home we say a black wolf up on the hillside. It was way cool.

The sunset was divine. H asked us if the sky was on fire.

We loved driving through Yellowstone in the evening. We say a ton of wildlife.

The next morning we packed up to come home.

We love this trip and this tradition.
