5th grade field trip

I got to help chaperone Brad's Salt Lake field trip.  

Our first stop was the State Capitol building. 

Mrs. Kinder and Ms.Clark's 5th grade class. 

It was fun to see inside the rotunda again. This is where Randy and I went to prom. Brad thought that was weird. 

They let us into the federal courtroom and then the legislature in session.

After the Capitol tour we got back on the buses and ate lunch in a park. 

After lunch we went to Tree-house museum. My mom's cousin just so happened to be the tour guide. 

The got to try a printing press...then sign their own printed declaration of independence. 

My favorite memory of the day was driving home on the bus. I had worked a graveyard shift the night before so I was deathly tired the whole day. The only thing I remember about the bus ride home was smacking my head on the bus window every time I dozed off. Brad kept apologizing to his friends. I am pretty sure I embarrassed him. Haha! Every mom needs to embarrass their kids once in a while. 

St. Patrick's Day

The Monday Before St. Patrick's day we were invited to the Austin's house for a festive FHE. We had a traditional Irish Stew for dinner with cornbread. Then we played games, and had a treasure hunt to find a pot of gold. Katie had some fun green moustaches for the kids to wear. 

...okay... and the adult too. 

After dinner we had a FHE lesson on feeling blessed instead of lucky. We got to fill this jar up every time we thought of something we were blessed with. It took us no time at all to fill the jar to the brim. Our lives are so full of blessings. 

St. Patrick's Day morning I made the kids green eggs. 

Then we got all dressed up in our green. 

After school we had our traditional St. Patrick's Day parade with our friends and neighbors. 

After the parade we had lots and lots of treats. 

So many cute littles. 

I have said it a million times but I love the people we live around. We have such good friends here. 

I made corn beef roast with potatoes and roasted cabbage for dinner. 

Then green pistachio pudding for dessert. 

Gailey girls come to town

Some of the Gailey girls came to Logan for a girls weekend. I could only join them for bits and pieces since Randy was in St. George on a business trip.

We went to Herm's for lunch. We had to wait over an hour so we got a bit bored. 

Christy and Hil got up on the bike then couldn't get back down. We were laughing so hard. 

Then Christy said "hey guys...I have a selfie stick in the car lets go get it and play with it!" again we were laughing our heads off.  I wonder what people were thinking looking at us goof-balls with a ridiculous selfie stick. However, I am not going to lie... I want one. 

Later that night I went to the Hotel to gang out for just a bit. 

Diaper Head...Don't ask...

We played the dollar gift game. 

My favorite was these orange fake lashes that Kari got. 

Gorgeous!!!

I was sad I didn't get to spend more time with them but grateful for the time I did get to spend. 

Family Home Evening...Bowling

The kids have been really good lately so we decided to reward them with a night of bowling. 

Pop'n Pins is the location of Napoleon Dynamite. My kids had no idea who he is. I guess we need to have a movie night for FHE. 

H had the best victory dance. It didn't matter how many pins he knocked down he jumped around with excitement. Even when it was a gutter ball he got excited. 

Claire is at the age where she swings the ball back and forth a million times before she lets it go. We were nervous sitting behind her. Sometimes her thumb would get caught in the hole and she practically threw it into the next lane. Scary!!!

H loved waiting for his ball to come out of the ball return. 

Brad is getting better at his technique. He took our tips very seriously and wanted to get better. He got a few strikes and some spares. 

On the way home we even stopped at Caspers for some FHE dessert. 

Girls Night

Claire and I decided it was time for a girl night. We drove to Preston in hopes that NY Deli would be open. It was closed so we decided on Chinese food instead. 

It was a good choice. It was delicious!

We opened our fortunes at the same time. 

Then we headed to a Fairytale Courtroom play at the Preston Theatre. It was so fun and interactive. They had court and let the audience be the jury. Claire could't stop smiling. She was so happy and giddy. She kept saying how "fancy" the night was. 

I love this girl of mine. She is so spunky, funny, and full of energy. She amazes me with how mature she is for her age. She now sets her alarm and gets herself ready all by herself without having to say a word. She is responsible and such a good helper. I can't imaging life without her.  

Brad's Birthday celebrations...

For Brad's birthday Randy took him to Salt Lake for a Jazz game. Randy let Brad pick what he wanted for dinner. Randy said they walked around the mall food court forever so he could decide. He finally settled on Subaro Pizza. Brad was in awe at how big the pieces were.

They got to sit really close. 

Pre game show. 

They were handing out ties at the game and he was completely stoked to wear his Jazz tie to church the next day. 

Monday was Brad's actual birthday. I checked him out of school so we could go to lunch. He has been thinking about where he wanted to go for weeks. He decided he wanted to try sushi since Randy and I go there all the time and hears all about it since we rave about it.  

I tried to warn him that he may not like it. He insisted on trying it at least once. 

He was kinda nervous to take a bite. 

He liked the ones with crab and shrimp but gagged on the ones with the fish. He was trying to put on a game face and pretend that he liked it a lot but I could tell he was regretting his choice. When I asked him if he wanted to go there next year he giggled and said "probably not".  He was a good sport for trying it. 

On the way back to school we stopped and got him a huge donut. He ate it much faster than the sushi. 

For dinner he wanted grilled chicken and artichokes, and instead of a cake he wanted brownies. 

Happy Birthday Brad!!! I  really can't believe you are 11 already.
