Black and White Day's Reimann Weekend 5-15-2015

We invited my family to come and stay with us over Black and White Days weekend. Steven and Kari couldn't make it though.

Aisi wasted no time at all finding H to play.

Cute little Tater Tot is getting so big.

We had a movie night sleepover. The city was supposed to do a movie in the park and fireworks but they got canceled due to the rain. So we opted to do our own party.
All the kids camped out and slept on the floor. We made caramel popcorn and had lots of candy.

The next morning we ran in the Cowabunga race.

Claire Ran the mile with Whitters. The rest of them walked. I was so proud. This is such a big deal for my family. We were not raised to be active or exercise.

Trish and I did the 5K. Ths was my first race ever. Trish and I have been running off and on for a couple of years. We have had setback after setback with my back and illnesses. It was overdue!!
Brad ran it with me. I was so proud of him.

It was raining which made me happy. It was just enough to feel nice but not drenching.

This hill was right at the beginning of the race. Trish and I had practiced this route so that I would enjoy the race instead of worrying that I wouldn't make it. This picture doesn't even show how much of a beast this hill was. I am glad it was at the beginning though. Brad and I had each other to push us. Luckily Trish was asked to be a photographer during the race. She was there to document every moment for me. I feel lucky to have these pictures.

Once Brad saw the finish line he raced ahead so he could sprint to the end. He left me in the dust!

Trish also ran ahead so she could get a picture of me running through the finish line.

She snapped this picture of me right before I crossed the line. I was overcome with emotions. The sound of the crowd drove me to tears. I was so emotional. I didn't expect to feel this way. I had worked really hard. Running doesn't come naturally to me. I had to fight through my mind telling me that it was hard and impossible. I know a 5K seems small beans but it was an incredible accomplishment for me. I felt good and proud.

I am so thankful for Trish pushing and encouraging me. I love her company when I run. She is my dear friend/therapist. I can't wait to do it again.

I loved seeing my whole family supporting me and cheering for me.

Once we all got home we stated on breakfast for the crowd.

It was fun to all cook together.

We made individual omelets. They were jam packed with yummy toppings. So much for our exercise from the race.

Corbin kept disappearing. We would find him in Brad's room every time.

Grandpa camped out on the couch and watched the kids run from room to room.

Then this happened!!!

The rest of the day was rainy and really wet. We were worried they were going to cancel the B&W days parade.

Luckily they didn't and we got to enjoy a soggy parade.

Claire and Brad got to be in the parade with Randy in his work truck to throw candy. Claire even passed up on being on the royalty float with her friends to be with her dad.

Randy said the kids loved throwing candy and Frisbees.

Randy traditionally have our Black and White days BBQ right after the parade. Unfortunately the rain wouldn't let up and it was way too rainy. We had to cancel and reschedule.

We still had a very small BBQ with my family/Shields and Titensors.

The kids had been cooped in the house the whole time they were there. I felt bad. However I don't think they minded at all.

It was a fun soggy weekend.
