Halloween is kind of a big deal at our house. Maybe it is because it is the first holiday of the season. I get a little excited. I just love the change of weather, the smells, and feelings of the last three months of the year.
We started out the morning with mummy pancakes. Then it was rush rush rush to get costumes on and make it to school on time.
I am one of the room mothers in Brad's class this year. I helped with his class party.
The kids played heads down thumbs up. It brought back some good memories of elementary school.
We made witch brooms and witch hats.
Then the kids made a huge spider web with string. They are all so opinionated and competitive at this age. This activity almost killed them. They all had ideas on how it should look.
Once the kids got home from school we got ready for the evening and did our makeup.
Claire was a Dark Fairy. She loved painting her hair silver. Every year she chooses a costume that is creepy or scary. She never wants to be a princess or anything cutesy.
Brad wanted to be a wrecked motorcyclist. I couldn't get him to smile in any of these pictures. He just kept it cool. He told me if he really wrecked a bike he wouldn't be smiling.
Harrison was the cutest little minion. After about 10 seconds he thought it would be more fun to throw the hay around that sit for more pictures.
Brad still maintaining composure in this picture.
Then it was party time. Our family and friends started arriving. All of Randy's family, the Shields, Nortons, and the Titensors came. We ordered 13 pizzas and ate all but three of them.
Claire and Lyndsee
Addie
Aspen and her friend
Kendra made this little peacock costume for Miss K. She looked so adorable. Kendra and Lance announced right before the party that they were expecting. Yea!!! Claire is hoping for another girl cousin. I can't wait to find out what they are having.
Reagan's scarecrow costume. She loved the way it bounced around when she ran. It was so cute watching her maneuver in her tutu.
We set up "DEAD ED" in the driveway for the trick or treaters this year. We let all the kids touch it before they headed out. They had to touch the leg bone (pretzel rods), the guts (spaghetti), the chest (jello), the eyeballs (peeled grapes) and the brains (cottage cheese).
Tori carved this really funny barfing pumpkin. I think that is how we all felt by the end of the night.
The boys sat on the roof and lowered a phantom down to try to scare the older trick or treaters. Matt sat up there the whole time. He did get some of them pretty good.
The clan getting ready to head out. Harrison was ticked that we were making him get more pictures. He wasn't just crying in this picture he was screaming at the top of his lungs. We were all laughing that he was being so ridiculous and it made him even more ticked.
He got over it once he found out we were going to get candy.
Mr. Carter is his cowboy getup.
Reagan and Harrison wanted to stop and eat a piece of candy at every stop. Kamie finally gave them a sucker to kept them occupied until we made it around the block. Smart Momma!!!
The golf cart had to make a quick cameo at this party. It wouldn't be Halloween without it.
The babies made it back just as it started to get dark . The younger ones went inside and watched Casper while the older kids hit the rest of the neighborhood.
Randy and all the men stayed outside until about 9 when the trick or treaters died down.
Luckily Tori thought to snap this quick picture of all the women. I am so glad she did. We are always the ones behind the scenes or behind the camera. I adore these women!!!
When the kids got up this morning they were slow and sluggish. I hated that I had to send them to school in a Halloween coma. They were pretty worn out.
I'm always so jealous of your fun family parties! It was too funny watching the guys scare kids from across the street.
ReplyDeleteSo fun and cute!!! Looks like you guys had tons of fun!
