General Conference Weekend

General Conference Weekend we decided to make one last camping trip before the snow. We let the kids miss school Friday so we could have a longer weekend.
My family decided to camp at Echo. I had to work Thursday night so as soon as I got home from work we headed out bright and early Friday morning. We decided to take the kids to breakfast to start out our vacation. We stopped at Angie's. It is quite the popular place in Logan.

The kids ordered big stacks of pancakes.

They even served the kids ice-cream after breakfast.

I love the whole bar behind us of all the senior gentlemen having breakfast together. There were like 20 of them. Randy laughed and said when he retires he wants to find an old diner to go have breakfast with his buddies.

After breakfast we got back in the truck and headed up the canyon.
On the way my mom texted me this picture.

Are you kidding me. 8 inches of snow at our camp. I dressed the kids for cold weather but not for the snow.

The kids played in the snow for a bit. They even built a snow horse. After about an hour they were freezing and whining and wanting in the trailer. We warmed them up with hot chocolate, changed their wet clothes and watched a movie. After a few hours the kids started to get restless trapped in the trailer. Everyone was hunkered down in trailers so we decided to move our camp up North to Tremonton where it was warmer and dry.

My Aunt Becky came and met us there that night. Becky babysat me all the time. She used to bring me her old worn out high heeled shoes and I loved them. They were my favorite dress ups.

The next morning was a bit chilly but it was dry. The kids enjoyed playing around camp while we cooked breakfast.

Becky's family made traditional breakfast. You should have seen how much bacon they cooked. And the sad part was how much of it we ate.

Grandpa Moose and Benny Boy

After breakfast the kids did all sorts of crafts.

Kirsten taught Brad how to make a loom hat.

Between conferences we headed down to the hot spring pool.

Corbin and Jake didn't last very long. They are not big into water.

The rest of the kids could have stayed all day.

The took turns flipping into the water.

Bean was nervous and wouldn't try. Eric gave her some diving lessons to start out.

Claire must have flipped off the side a dozen times.

After a while the flipping got boring so Uncle Eric ramped it up a notch by launching them in the air.

Then he was Uncle Eric the playground. The kids were hanging all over him.

After getting really brave Bean finally dived into the water. It was more like a belly flop than a dive but she did it.

Right before dinner my cousin Brad found the biggest ugliest bug I have ever seen.

Grandma Moose caught it for the kids.

Look at this beast. I couldn't believe how big it was. Yuck!! It is as big as my mom's hand under the jar.

It entertained the kids and the adults for hours. It became the camp pet.

Alexa came that night with her cute little Brylee. Rochelle snagged her before I could get to her. She was such a good baby this whole trip.

My dad spent most of the day with his scope checking out the local wildlife. I think I have this exact picture from every camping trip.

Becky and Richard's cute family.

Randy in MY chair listening to conference.

More games and crafts for the kids.

That night Randy took Brad and Claire out to ride their motorcycles. Claire crashed her bike so Randy brought her back to the trailer. I didn't think much of it at first. She was complaining that her arm was bugging her but she said she was tired and just wanted to lay down. After she woke up she wasn't using her arm and still was complaining that it hurt. I decided it was time to take her to the insta-care.

Sure enough it was broken. It was so high on her humerus there was no way they could cast it. The best treatment is to immobilize her arm the best we can.

She is one sad girl. She is not a fan of taking it easy. It has been rough.

Randy felt bad she couldn't ride her bike so he took her out for a little ride on the 4 wheeler the next day.
The rest of the day we spent relaxing and listening to conference.

Rochelle, Kierst, Aaron, Brad

For Sunday dinner Grandma and Grandpa Moose made roast, potatoes and rolls in the dutch oven.

It was Harrison's birthday so my Julie made him a cake in the dutch oven to celebrate.

We had been telling Harrison to stay away from the Dutch Ovens all day and warning them how hot they were.

He was scared and confused when we put him right next to the pan with flaming candles telling him to put his head right down by the flames and blow out the candles.

Poor boy!!!
He cried the whole time.

He got over it once we put the cake on a plate and he got to eat it.

After the birthday celebration we headed home.
Thanks family for the fun weekend!!!
